Tam-awan Village Artists

Tam-awan Village Artists

Chanum Foundation President: Jordan Mangosan
They are  group of artists at Tam-awan Village, Baguio City under Chanum foundation who are dedicated in the showcasing of indigenous craftsmanship, art and culture, and even ethnic literature. They envision the Tam-awan Village as an ideal venue for art and cultural activities aimed to enhance the appreciation of Cordillera life, its culture and its history.  This is by raising awareness and appreciation of Cordillera culture, preserving Cordillera heritage and promoting cultural and economic empowerment in the Cordilleras.

To join their group, the current president, the Solar Painter Mr. Jordan Mangosan himself ( and a neighbor of mine ;), said that it will take years of initiation which will start by visiting the artists often and sitting with them to learn their craft, their life, and their philosophies.

His point is, it takes more than talent and artistry to prove that an artist is worthy of joining the Village -one must have to drink with them, share  life experiences with them, and show passion towards the goals of the group, before one is embraced  in their ranks.
