My name is Valred and my ethnic name is "Balweg". Even with the strong Cordillera blood flowing in me - a mix between Bontok, Kankana-ey, and Ibaloi tribes, I grew up in an urbanized town in a society where modern technology and popular culture has unfortunately alienated the young people in our community from their indigenous eyes.

Still, my love for arts, music, and literature and desire to learn about my indigenous culture and arts, inspired me to look back and appreciate the craft, artistry, and creativity of the mountain people where I belong.

I am an Igorot.
